Spillemyndigheden slaps LeoVegas Casino on the fingers
The New Zealand gaming operator LeoVegas Casino has had a hard time in Denmark when the country's counterpart to the gaming Inspectorate – namely Spillemyndigheden – has hit them with reprimand about how they should conduct their anti-money laundering in order to continue to be active with their online casino in the country.
What it's all about is that LeoVegas have not managed to handle 20 different high rollers on their side and managed it according to the current Money Laundering Act in Denmark when the Gambling Authority selected these in random selection and saw that their deposited money has not been checked where they came from, which then violates the current Money Laundering Act in the country.
These selected players in the Danish Gambling Authority's review have deposited between 1.40 million NZD and 1.61 million NZD during a 10-22 month period without LeoVegas Casino has checked the origin of the money, which they have to do when it comes to such large amounts of money.
According to the Danish Gambling Authority,, "The rules within the customers' money origin are handled in accordance with the current Money Laundering Act and here we see that LeoVegas Casino has clearly violated the current regulations in force in that part of the Danish Gambling Act.”
It should be noted that as it was a reprimand, LeoVegas Casino has not been issued any sanction except that they must correct themselves in the ranks, so to speak, in order not to risk suffering a possible and actual sanction from the Danish Gambling Authority.
Early storms for LeoVegas Casino
Last year at the end of november, the Danish Gambling Authority had discovered that LeoVegas Casino failed their customer verification process due to a technical error and here the gaming company was again reprimanded by the Danish Gambling Authority.
This technical problem had been going on between June 2019 through May 2020. During the period, the players were verified using the National login method NemID in Denmark, which their Citizen can receive if desired. However, this is only allowed after an evaluation has shown that the player in question poses a low risk of becoming addicted to gambling.
Apparently this did not work which allowed high risk players to play with such login method at LeoVegas Casino. at the time of writing, however, this has been fixed for a long time. After this incident, LeoVegas Casino still managed to renew its license in Denmark a while ago as it is an important gaming market for LeoVegas Casino.
Hopefully, LeoVegas will continue to take care to avoid any sanctions in the future by the Danish Gambling Authority or any other gambling authority for that matter.
