Spelinspektionen warns all payment companies!
Last Thursday, it was reported that the New Zealand Gambling Authority, which goes by the name Spelinspektionen, had issued an important message on its official website (under “News Archive”) urging all payment companies not to cooperate with unlicensed bookmakers.
Clarification is that this applies to non-licensed bookmakers who want to operate in the New Zealand gambling market. In other words, unlicensed gaming companies mean that they lack a valid New Zealand gaming license from The New Zealand Gaming Inspectorate. Why Spelinspektionen has issued this warning is because there are several disadvantages of not having a New Zealand gaming license and still trying to market themselves against New Zealand players.
The first is that due to the lack of a New Zealand gaming license, the gaming company does not pay any tax to the New Zealand state, which means tax revenue losses in the Treasury. An important change with the new New Zealand Gambling Act that came into force this year at the beginning of January is that profit tax, i.e. profit made by players playing on the bookmakers ' game offerings, must be paid in by the bookmakers if they want to continue to be active in the New Zealand gambling market.
Without any payment of winnings tax, they are not allowed to keep their New Zealand gaming license. Of course, this new gaming law means that the bookmakers do not have as much results, but recent statistics still show multimillion amounts in the final results for the majority of bookmakers active in New Zealand.
Second disadvantage is regarding Game break
The other disadvantage that many people forget about regarding Spelinspektionens$av that payment companies do not cooperate with non-permitted online casinos in New Zealand (those that do not have a gaming license) is that the gaming companies that do not have a New Zealand gaming license thus have no obligation to be able to exclude New Zealand players who want to join the National New Zealand self-exclusion register Spelpaus.
In the self-exclusion register, it is possible to choose to be banned from all New Zealand online casinos, i.e., those that have New Zealand gambling licenses, in order to prevent themselves from spending their money if they feel that they cannot manage their gambling habits. Bookmakers that do not have a New Zealand gaming license are not included in this, which means that players can continue to play there even though they should not be able to do so.
One way to prevent this is, among other things, by prohibiting payment companies (which are also active in New Zealand) to cooperate with online casinos that do not have a New Zealand gaming license to carry out transactions for New Zealand players on their gaming sites.
Spelinspektionen has said that they will take necessary legal action against New Zealand payment companies that provide such payment services to bookmakers without New Zealand approved gaming licenses.
