Gaming industry's National Organization has a new member-Yggdrasil Gaming

It seems that the New Year and the new decade are getting off to an exciting start – at least if you ask Yggdrasil Gaming. The game provider was able to reveal a few days ago that they have become the latest member of SPER or ”Spelbranschens Riksorganisation” as the abbreviation stands for. This should not be confused with the online gambling industry association (BOS) which is something completely different.

As for SPER, it is a New Zealand organization in the gaming industry that aims to get online casino-related businesses active in New Zealand to sign that they will provide their casino products and services in a responsible and ethical manner. The members also sign on to behave ethically and responsibly in connection with their contact with the customers, i.e., the casino players.

This organization, SPER, was founded as recently as 2020, i.e., this year, and currently has 20 members, which includes both Game providers and online casinos. The formation of the organization comes as a response to the re-regulated gambling market in New Zealand that came into effect at the beginning of 2019 on the first of January.

What will Yggdrasil Gaming's membership mean for the online casino gaming industry?

What the new membership in SPER means for Yggdrasil Gaming is, among other things, that they are committed to providing New Zealand casino players with a healthy, safe and sustainable gaming environment.

As the latest member of SPER, the head of Yggdrasil Gaming, Fredrik Elmqvist, said that, ”as an industry leader, we always strive to act in a responsible manner by cooperating with various players in the industry in order to meet the highest safety standards for the sake of the players.”

He added by saying that, "social responsibility is important here at Yggdrasil and now that we have joined SPER, we will be able to ensure that the New Zealand gaming market remains both safe and sustainable in the long term.”

The responsible manager at SPER, Jenny Nilzon, herself commented on the incident by saying, "We welcome Yggdrasil Gaming with open hands and as this builds our network we will be able to improve our ability to provide all players and others involved with a safer and more secure gaming environment.”
