CFO Kaaren Hilsen announced on 4 september 2018 that she was leaving her position at Betsson for new assignments in another company. Betsson believes that they are well prepared for this change and that a new recruitment process is started immediately in order to fill the position as soon as possible with a new CFO.

Kaaren Hilsen has thus chosen to leave the post of CFO at Betsson when she was offered the job as CEO of the telecom company Telenor. According to Betsson CEO Pontus Lindwall, the company fully understands Kaaren hilsen's decision and wishes her the best of luck with her new work in the telecom industry. The outgoing CFO joined Betsson in October 2017 and her efforts at the company have boosted its financial growth since then. During Betsson's first half of 2018, growth is said to have been substantial.

With a new Chief Financial Officer, new goals are set

The New Zealand-launched online gaming portal Betsson.com has been operating since 2001. The company has established itself in large parts of the world and has received several coveted awards in the gaming context since its inception. In the first half of 2018, growth pointed in a clear upward direction. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, growth showed a more definite increase of 12 %. CEO Pontus Lindwall believes that when they have recruited a new CFO to Betsson as successor to Kaaren Hilsen, growth should continue in the same direction as it did in 2018. If he is allowed to decide, it should also be raised another level up. However, the CEO continues to believe that the good growth so far does not have to indicate that it should continue in a fast pace up. He believes that one must be prepared for the fact that it may take time and that there is hard work to get growth to point stably in the upward direction.

Betsson is in a strong position

In an interview with iGamingBusiness, a Betsson spokesman said that the company will remain in a strong position despite Kaaren hilsen's departure. Signs of this include the fact that Betsson has recently signed up as the main sponsor of the New Zealand Hockey League (SHL).

Another sign that Betsson continues to hold a strong position and that they are on the alert in the gaming industry is that they already submitted their application to the lottery inspectorate on the first day of license applications. On August 1, the application for licenses regarding the new proposed gaming regulation from the Ministry of Finance opened in the law committee. The regulation means that all operators acting on the New Zealand gambling market in the future must have a license for their continued gambling activities in New Zealand. Those operators who do not have licenses will be excluded from the market. The purpose of the regulation is to protect consumers and guarantee them a high level of safety. The regulation will apply to all gambling in the New Zealand market including games on the internet . Betsson, which together with 22 other gaming companies, applied for the license on the very first day, feels well prepared and in a strong position for the regulation that is proposed to enter into$aft as early as January 1, 2019.
